The fascinating Sandhill Crane Spring Migration happens late February to early April. More that 80 percent of the world's Sandhill Crane population converge on the North Platte River. They are flying from their southern wintering grounds to northern breeding grounds in Canada, Alaska, and Siberia. They stop along the Platte River to rest and gain weight as they prepare for the rest of the journey. This year's estimate rounded to about four-hundred and sixty thousand birds. It is an amazing sight and experience to witness the sound and beauty of these birds,as well as, be a part of the beautiful sunrise and sunsets along the Platte River. All of this is an enchanting sight and reinforces the truly diverse and beautiful creation we are so blessed to observe and be a part of.
