Nature's Creativeness
Today I was on a hike at McGraw Ranch which was a working cattle ranch in the early 1940's. Today it is used as the RMNP Research Center. That in its self is fascinating as to what research is done there by the three major universities, and other agencies that are here in Colorado. But what was the most interesting thing today was the time I took for silence. No cars, radios, ipods, or man made inventions that made noise, just the sounds of nature. How refreshing and peaceful the silence of nature! So your probably wondering what in the world are these strange images on the posting for today? Do you see the bird on a stick? This odd structuring became evident as I sat quietly listening, looking and observing. I find this quote by Henry David Thoreau so fitting for all the different nuisances found in natural formations. He says, "It is something to be able to paint a picture,or to carve a statue, to make a few objects beautiful. But is is far more glamorous to carve and paint the very medium through which we look." I always have to remind myself it's not what I see, it's how I see it. This holds true in all aspects of life's situations, and what a better place than nature to practice seeing what is really a gift to all of mankind.
